18th annual SAG Awards
December 15th, 2011 . by adminAs another thrilling and unusual year of television and film comes to an end, it time once again for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. While the nominees were released today, you will have to wait and tune in January 29th to see who will take home the top honors.
The motion pictures, “The Artist” and “The Help” received nominations across many different categories. Both were nominated for in the category of “Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture”, along with “The Descendants”, “Midnight in Paris” and “Bridesmaids”. Though Midnight in Paris is considered a romantic comedy, it is Woody Allen after all, Bridesmaids is the only true comedy to be featured.
The movie, which features an all female ensemble, was a smash hit. It catapulted the careers of two of the film’s stars, Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. Wiig, who also co-wrote the project is leaving the series SNL this year and jumping into film. McCarthy was nominated for the SAG award “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role.” Her comedic timing and delivery definitely make her one new hollywood talent to keep an eye on.
